Organizing artworks into collections

Create themed collections to group related artworks and give your portfolio a curated, professional feel.

What is a collection?

A collection is a named group of artworks you curate and display together. Collections are great for organizing work by theme ("Landscapes 2024"), series ("The Blue Series"), medium ("Watercolors"), or purpose ("Available for purchase"). Each collection gets its own page on your portfolio site with a title, description, and the artworks you chose.

Creating a new collection

Go to Collections in your admin sidebar and click New collection. Enter a name and an optional description. The description appears at the top of the collection's page and can give visitors context about what they are looking at. Save the collection, then move on to adding artworks.

Adding artworks to a collection

Open a collection and click Add artworks. A panel slides in showing all your published artworks. Check the ones you want to include and click Add selected. Artworks can belong to multiple collections, so adding a piece to a collection does not remove it from another.

Reordering artworks within a collection

Inside the collection editor, drag and drop artworks to set the order they appear to visitors. The order you set here overrides the default sort on the collection page. Think about the visual rhythm: vary shapes, orientations, and colors to create a flow that pulls visitors through the collection.

Removing artworks from a collection

Click the Remove button next to any artwork in the collection editor to take it out of that collection without deleting the artwork itself. The artwork stays in your main Artworks list and any other collections it belongs to.

Publishing and hiding collections

Each collection has a published/draft toggle. Draft collections are invisible to portfolio visitors but remain in your admin so you can build them before going live. Publish when you are ready for the world to see it.

Setting a collection cover image

The cover image is the first artwork in the collection by default. To change it, drag a different artwork to the top position, or open the collection settings and choose a specific image.
